This is a scary story with a REALLY lucky ending.
On July 4th, Kendra Villanueva and her boyfriend, Ian Gordon, of Albuquerque, New Mexico were watching fireworks. And Kendra was eight-and-a-half months PREGNANT.
It started to rain, and when they heard thunder, they started heading inside. That's when both Kendra and Ian were STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
They were rushed to the hospital, where Kendra had an emergency C-SECTION.
And amazingly, both she and her newborn daughter Kimberly survived and are okay.
Ian survived too, although his eardrum was blown out. Both he and Kendra are looking at long-term muscle spasms . . . but they say they're just thankful that they're alive and the baby is doing well.
According to one doctor who treated Kendra, it's rare that a pregnant woman is struck by lightning . . . but when it happens, only about HALF the babies survive.
