The high school in Wilcox County, Georgia was integrated 30 years ago . . . and that's when the school stopped sponsoring the prom. (Wilcox County is 160 miles south of Atlanta.)
Since then, parents have raised money to hold the prom . . . TWO actually. One party is for white students . . . and the other is for everyone else. Seriously. And as recently as LAST YEAR, police turned away a biracial student from the "white prom".
But that might change this year. Students at Wilcox County High are raising money to hold the school's first-ever integrated prom . . . in 2013. They've raised over $1,000 so far . . . and the prom is scheduled for April 27th.
The school has also had a segregated homecoming dance. But this year they only selected one homecoming king and queen.
