According to a new survey by Scarborough Research, more than one in four Americans . . . 27% . . . have done volunteer work in the last year.

 

 

--People who are self-employed or small-business owners are 12% more likely to do volunteer work than the rest of us.  And volunteers are more likely to have college degrees and white-collar jobs.

 

 

--Here are the cities with the highest percentage of people doing volunteer work: 

 

 

#1.)  42% of people in Salt Lake City, Utah have done volunteer work in the past year.  

 

#2.)  34% of people in Minneapolis, Minnesota . . . Des Moines, Iowa . . . and Portland, Oregon volunteered.

 

#3.)  Grand Rapids, Michigan . . . San Francisco . . . and Seattle all had 33%.
