Traveling to every country in the world sounds like a fairly IMPOSSIBLE task. So I'm not sure why this guy decided to make it even HARDER.
--33-year-old Graham Hughes of Liverpool, England just became the first person to travel to all 201 sovereign countries in the world . . . without EVER getting on an airplane. He traveled by bus, boat, car, train, taxi, and walking. No planes.
--On Monday, he went to the world's newest country, South Sudan, to complete his project. His entire trip took about four years . . . he set out on January 1st, 2009 and it took 1,426 days. And somehow he spent less than $100 per week.
--He says the hardest places to visit WEREN'T Iran, Iraq, or North Korea. The hardest ones were islands in PIRATE TERRITORY . . . since he wasn't flying, he had to take boats through dangerous waters.
--Quote, "The really tough ones were places like Nauru, the Maldives, and Seychelles." His other toughest stop was in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they threw him in JAIL for six days because they thought he was a spy.
