Barbi has been around music all of her life. Her father was in a Tejano group called "Los Kasinos." She would hear him practicing the sax (her favorite instrument) daily, and on the radio Tejano was always blasting! Barbi has two younger brothers, and remembers her father hoping one of the three would join the school band (NO LUCK!) Her father even had three saxophones ready for use but again (NO LUCK!) She did manage to be in choir from the third grade until she was out of High School but that's as far as she let that go (Her first love was dancing and being in the High School drill team didn't leave her much time to join the band). After High School, Barbi went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from TX. A&M University-Corpus Christi studying Criminal Justice and Communications. (She is currently working on her Masters Degree)
Barbi has been with KSAB Radio since September of 1998, and admits it has been an unforgettable experience. "I love meeting all of our listeners on a one to one basis because it gives me the opportunity to joke, laugh, and personally greet them!†she explains with a smile. "I especially love all the children who come up to me and greet me with my own personal sayings that I have shared with them throughout the air waves", she adds with a laugh. "When parents approach me to tell me how their children have surprisingly began to add Spanish into their vocabulary due to their interest in our station, (Where they never had before) it makes my job that much more rewarding!†she continuous by saying, "I'm doing what I love to do with the best people in the business, KSAB is my second family and I am extremely lucky to be a part of the #1 crew!"
Barbi added TV co-host to her resume! She has been co-hosting KIII TV 3's "Domingo Show," with Rudy Trevino (KIII TV 3 News Anchor & Tejano Gold Radio Show Host) since July of 2005. You can catch her on TV every Sunday morning from 10:30a.m. to 12:00p.m. on KIII TV 3's "Domingo Live!"
