In Houston, TX, in 1995, Armando (lead vocals, bajo sexton), Junior (drums), and Carlos Gracia (congas), children of %Juvenal Gracia, came together to form a band they would call Grupo Gracia. Over the next two years the group would take on two new members, Ivan Rodriguez (backing vocals and accordion) and Hector Campos (electric bass), taking first place in a local battle of the bands. Their victory offered them the opportunities to take their material into the studio. In 1998, thanks to their recently recorded demo, the group was able to secure good representation (SERCA), and in doing so took the name Grupo Alazzan. Recording their first production in 1999, entitled Con Ella, Grupo Alazzan began creating a new sound, something that would stand out in the norteno genre.
