Dr. Patsy Torres has a career spanning over four decades. In the early 1980’s, she began her musical career as the trumpet player for Blue Harmony and shortly thereafter formed the Patsy Torres Band. In the mid-1950’s, the band became the Alfonso Ramos Orchestra for which Ruben played the drums into the 1960s. Ruben was also the vocalist and sang many of the English songs played. In 1969, Ruben joined his brother Roy and formed the next family legacy, The Mexican Revolution. While the band’s name changed to Texas Revolution and back to Mexican Revolution, Ruben has retained the nickname “El Gato Negro” over the years. A trademark he acquired based on his 1987 regional hit “El Gato Negro.” The legacy continues today with live performances by Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution that includes a live horn section.
