Selena Fans Celebrate Latin Music Icon 28 Years After Her Death

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — It’s been 28 years since the tragic death of bicultural icon Selena and her legacy continues to resonate almost three decades later with her many fans who visit her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Thousands of fans flock to the coastal city each year to visit the iconic Selena statue along Shoreline Boulevard, her gravesite at Seaside Memorial Park, and other sites in Corpus Christi. The singer touched many lives in her short lifetime, and still manages to leave a lasting impact on the hearts of many, even long after her death. Selena managed to break gender barriers, across musical genres and even attract fans from around the world. Her success is permanently etched into the fabric of Corpus Christi.

KIII 3News anchor Rudy Treviño, who also hosts the nationally syndicated radio show Tejano Gold Countdown and the Domingo Live television show, spoke with fans from all over the world on the 28th anniversary of the loss of Selena.
