Stevie D is currently working on his next album, his second with legendary record label Freddie Records, and the award-winning singer-songwriter has added the Latin GRAMMY-winning vocalist Rebecca Valadez to his All-Star Cast band for the new project and management responsibilities.

The duo shared the latest news on the band during an interview with The AC Cruz Podcast including details on the highly-anticipated album — from the lead single to a bonus track that is a cover of a classic song — and the addition of Valadez, bringing her sultry vocals to the band’s sound and was named business manager for the band.

“We found a hidden gem,” Stevie D tells The AC Cruz Podcast about Valadez. “She’s not a backup vocalist for this band, she’s a featured artist.”

The first single from the album is “Porque Tu” and was co-written by Stevie D and Jay Alaniz and is expected to be released in a few weeks.

Stevie D said, “Rebecca and I sing to each other, it’s not really a duet but she’s got her own part. So it’s a little bit about traicione amor. It’s a badass cumbia. I’m not saying that because I wrote it but because the arrangement came in and it all gelled.”

The bonus track is a cover of an classic Tejano song from an iconic Tejano supergroup that the four-time Tejano Music Awards winner shared a live version online recently that many were excited to hear.

Stevie D stated, “When the writer heard that version, our live version, and I’m not going to mention the name of the song, but when he heard it and from what I understand he said it was the best version that he had ever heard before and I was like, ‘Well then we have to freakin’ do it.’ And Freddie (Martinez Jr.) at first was a little against it but then he heard that live version and he was like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s do it!'”

The new album from Stevie D & The All-Star Cast featuring Rebecca Valadez is scheduled for release in October.
