National Museum of Mexican Art hosts a free Selena Tribute Concert

The National Museum of Mexican Art will host The Selena Tribute Concert with performances by Jennifer Peña and more on September 9.

It’s the largest tribute concert ever in Chicago celebrating the legendary and iconic Tex-Mex Queen of Cumbia: Selena. The free event features musical performances by Jennifer Peña, Karla Perez “Selena The Show”, and Mariachi Perla de Mexico with Tessa Lopez, plus drag performances by Ivanna RubioVenus CarangiAngelicia Diamond, and Luna La Catrina. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket, chairs, and a picnic.

This event is free to attend at Jay Pritzker Pavillion. Millenium Park. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Millennium Park is only allowing admission through its north side and south side entrances. Early arrival is encouraged for the event that begins at 6 p.m.

Located in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, the National Museum of Mexican Art is one of the most prominent Latino cultural organizations in the country and the only nationally accredited museum dedicated to Mexican art and culture. In 2020, the Museum earned the honor of being named one of America’s Cultural Treasures by the Ford Foundation.

The National Museum of Mexican Art strengthens artistic and cultural diversity in Chicago while illuminating the rich art and history of Mexico. Its Permanent Collection consists of more than 11,000 pieces dating from 200 BCE to the present day.
