Tejano icon Shelly Lares has entertained fans for 40 years and “Little Miss Dynamite” is in the final months of her LMD Legacy Tour as the star will retire from performing at the end of the year. Lares will make her final appearance at Mexican Fiesta in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this weekend, an event she has been part of since 1992, but this year the Tejano ROOTS Hall of Famer will present the next generation of female Tejano singers with a Ladies of Tejano Music Showcase on Friday, August 26.
The showcase will feature rising stars Demmi Garcia and Sonja De La Paz, along with two Tejano Music Awards winners for Best New Female Artist, Monica Saldivar, who won in 2020, and 2014 winner Crystal Torres.
“Friday I have the honor of hosting and showcasing some of the new generation of women in Tejano,” Lares said via social media. “My final Mexican Fiesta performance…I’m so excited for the girls to experience it. Especially for the fans to see and hear them.”

Lares, Saldivar, Garcia, and De La Paz released one of the biggest collaborations of the past year, “Nada De Ti,” a song that features beautiful mariachi instrumentation, starting as ranchera transitioning into cumbia, showcasing the amazing voices of the four singers.
As Lares transitions from performing, she still plans to be a part of the Tejano music industry mentoring the next generation of Tejano stars, with songwriting, arranging, and producing.
“My being off the road is going to really be more beneficial to the industry,” Lares tells Tejano Nation. “I’ll be able to really contribute more time to mentoring, to producing, to helping my industry in any way that I can.”

Mexican Fiesta is the largest Mexican Hispanic festival in the midwest and returns to the Henry Maier Festival Park from Aug. 26-28 for three days of fun, food, music, and fiesta from noon to midnight. The event is produced by the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to Hispanic students enrolled in Wisconsin faculties and universities that supply volunteer service for WHSF events and Mexican Fiesta. WHSF has provided over $1.8 million in scholarships to Hispanic Wisconsin residents since the foundation was created in 1987.
