J.R. Gomez to host 4th annual Tejano Christmas Toy Drive on Dec. 16

AUSTIN, TEXAS – J.R. Gomez announced his 4th Annual Tejano Christmas Toy Drive, sponsored by HotTejano and Covert Austin, will occur Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 3TEN ACL Livein Austin, Texas.

The event will feature performances fromJR Gomez Y Los Conjunto BanditswithMario OrtizandLa Dezz. Special guests include legendary Tejano artistShelly Laresand one of the most exciting artists in Tejano music,Stevie D. HotTejano.com will broadcast live at the event withChris “Tejano Man” Tristanhosting and mixing throughout the night with the event hosted by TikTok sensation and Tejano Nation contributorLexie Rodriguez.

The annual event helps collect new and unused toys and monetary donations for the Travis County Sheriff’s Brown Santaprogram, which provides assistance with gifts and food during the holiday season to families and elderly citizens in Travis County primarily living outside the geographic city limits of Austin. 

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m, and the show begins at 8:30 p.m.Admission will be free with a new and unused toy or a $20 monetary donation.  A very limited amount of discounted presale tickets will be available at www.3tenaustin.com beginning Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10 a.m. 3TEN ACL Live is located at 310 Willie Nelson Blvd, Suite 1A, Austin, Texas, 78701.

About JR Gomez

Lee Gomez Jr, better known as J.R. Gomez, is originally from Plainview, Texas. In 1996 he moved to Austin to joinLa Fiebre, the legendary Houston area group, recording two albums and earning his first Grammy nomination.  He later joined The Band for “The Voice”Jay Perezin 1998, playing the accordion for about three years, earning a Gold Album, several Tejano Awards, and Grammy nominations. Around 2002, he joinedJimmy Gonzalez Y Grupo Mazz, touring all over the U.S. earning several Tejano awards and two Grammy Awards, an American and Latin Grammy. 

J.R. also performed on the live reunion album withJoe Lopez and Jimmy Gonzalez, The Last Dance, earning a Latin Grammy Nomination. In 2009, he joinedA.B QuintanillaandThe Kumbia King Allstarz. In 2018, J.R. formed his own band, J.R. Gomez Y Los Conjunto Bandits, consisting of Gomez on lead vocals and accordion,Daniel “DROK” Sandovalon drums,Pete “Tiny” Gutierrezon bass and backup vocals, andChris Villarealon bajo sexto. Gomez won Best Collaboration for the duet “Ayer” withShelly Lares and 2020 Tejano Music Awards winners for Best New Group and Best New Male Artist. J.R. Gomez has been in the industry for over 30 years and continues to keep going.
