Book about music legend Little Joe finalist for 2020 Latino Book Awards

Little Joe, who isslowly recovering from COVID-19at home, received great news about the book on his life story released in May.¡No Llore, Chingon! An American Story: The Life of Little Joeis a finalist in two categories for the 2020 International Latino Book Awards for Most Inspirational Nonfiction Book – English and Best Cover Photo.

The 79-year-old music legend says many authors have wanted to tell his story and found the right one when award-winning South Texas authorEmma Gonzálezcontacted him.

“Her life story is so similar to mine,” Little Joesaid in an interviewwithTejano Nationradio affiliateLa Voz 93.3. FMin Abilene, Texas. “Grew up as a migrant kid pickin’ and workin’ in the fields – my same story. I figured she would be able to really deliver my message.”

The first book written by González,Field Mice: Memoirs of a Migrant Child, won in the category of the Most Inspirational Novel, and Field Mice: Memoirs of a Migrant Child(Children’s Edition) won the category for Most Inspirational Book for Young Adults at the 2017 International Latino Book Awards.

Little Joe, known as the “King of The Brown Sound,” released his eighth live concert albumBetter Than Ever on May 29 and the book about his life and over 50-year legendary music career on May 13.
