An Instagram video from Suzette Quintanilla has Selena fans riled up about an upcoming television series based on the best selling book Selena’s Secret.

The book, written by award winning television journalist Maria Celeste Arrarás, showcases a different side of Selena’s murder, who was one of the most influential and best-selling Latin artists of the 1990’s.

The news of Arrarás’ forthcoming series has not been well-received by fans or family members of the late Queen of Tejano. Following the announcement, a petition was launched to stop the project from happening, and Suzette Quintanilla took to Instagram to sound off on the book and series.

“Your book is based on a whole bunch of lies,” she said via Instagram Stories. “Your source is a person who killed, cold-heartedly murdered, my sister, shot her in the back and left her to die.”

BTM Media, Moconoco and LatinWE, announced the production of the 13 episode series on Monday (Jan. 16) based on the events of Selena’s tragic death from the book. The series will premiere on TNT in Latin America and TV Azteca in Mexico.

“This real story of our beloved Selena has all the ingredients of a telenovela: Lies, love, betrayals, intrigue, overcoming, suspense and much more,” Arraras said. “It is a controversial but true story, handled with the utmost respect for her memory. I have no doubt that, just as the book became a bestseller, the production of this series will break audience records.”

In November 2016, Endemol Shine North America and Major TV announced that they were working with Chris Perez to bring his book, To Selena With Love, to television. That project has since been halted after Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, filed a lawsuit against Perez.
